Electronic Engineering Technology
Consumer electronics, telecommunications,
semiconductors – the Electronic
Engineering
Technology industry offers a vast field of opportunity for students
interested in the design and manufacture of hardware and software
for all-things electrical. In the Electronic Engineering Technology
program at UMass Lowell, instruction centers around the fundamentals
of circuit design, voltage, semiconductor devices, theory vs
simulation, transistors, microprocessors and more.
An array of career options are available for graduates of the program in power, communications, consumer electronics, manufacturing, the defense industry and more. Highly motivated graduates of this program may be eligible to continue on to graduate school and earn an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
Students experience every
aspect of the electronic engineering field first-hand...
from concept to manufacturing,
from quality assurance to
product launch.
As part of the coursework in Electronic Engineering
Technology, students design a custom electronic product to aid local
individuals with disabilities. This project allows students to
experience every aspect of the electronic engineering field
first-hand.
The educational objectives of the Electronic Engineering Technology program are as follows:
- Prepare graduates to apply scientific and engineering knowledge and methods, combined with technical skills that can be applied immediately.
- Be established and recognized as a valued professional and an effective communicator in industries related to electrical, computer and electronic technologies.
- Practice their profession in a collaborative, team-oriented manner that embraces the multidisciplinary and multicultural environment of today’s business world.
