“I
wanted to make a career change and do something I was
passionate about, which for me is the environment. So when I decided
to go back to school, I
looked at several universities and even went so far as to interview
faculty to make sure I
selected the right one. What I discovered along the way is that UMass
Lowell is among a select
group of universities with a prestigious engineering program. That
really reinforced my decision
to attend UMass Lowell.”

Building and maintaining the critical
infrastructure of today’s society demands both
technical insight and hands-on experience. The
Civil Engineering Technology program delivers
on both fronts. Students not only become
familiar with the intricacies of load-bearing
support,
reinforced concrete and continuous
spans, but they also gain an understanding of
traffic characteristics, water and wastewater
treatment, highway development and the legal
aspects involved in property law.
Graduates of UMass Lowell's Civil Engineering Technology programs may find themselves
in supervisory roles within municipal public works departments, while others may work for
construction companies, helping to build
highways and bridges in the U.S. and in foreign
countries to support the growing global
economy.
