Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology: Wastewater Treatment Option

Building and maintaining the critical infrastructure of today’s society demands both technical insight and hands-on experience. Students enrolled in the A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology gain a solid foundation in civil engineering, while the Wastewater Treatment Option helps prepare them to work in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.

The amount of time it takes for a student to complete the program will depend upon the individual student's course load (how many courses they take each semester). Most of the courses taken towards the Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology: Wastewater Treatment Option (64 credits) may be applied towards the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology (124 credits). Some of the courses in this degree program may also be applied toward a related certificate program, allowing students to earn an additional credential as they pursue their degree.

The following degree program outline, which lists 2–3 courses each semester, is only a suggested course load. First-year students should not take more than 1 or 2 courses their first semester. Subsequent course loads may be determined by the students’ own personal time constraints.
