OVERVIEW
A four day course covering the fundamental concepts important in manufacture,
characterization and application of emulsion polymer latexes. Topics include
colloidal stability, formulation of emulsions, polymerization kinetics and
mechanisms, characterization of particle surfaces, emulsion polymer latex
properties specific to rheology, morphology, polymerization with functional
groups, and film formation. Systems of particular relevance in formulating
paints, industrial coatings, inks, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and domestic
cleaning products and various applications problems will be reviewed.
