UMass Lowell's Graduate Master of Science Degree in Health Informatics and Management is a 12-course
master's degree program designed to produce health care and management professionals with knowledge and
expertise that is essential to the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health services, and critical
in the design, analysis and evaluation of public health and private sector health policies.
UMass Lowell offers two concentrations for students to customize the program around their particular areas of interest: Health Informatics and Health Management.
The University also offers three graduate-level certificate programs in the same three concentration areas. Many students complete one of the four-course certificate programs before seeking admission to the master's degree program, and the certificate courses are then accepted as credits towards the M.S. degree.

In addition to the Master's Degree program, UMass Lowell offers three graduate-level certificate programs in Health Management, Health Informatics and Health Policy. These 4-course certificate programs are designed to help professionals acquire advanced knowledge and skills while pursuing studies beyond their Bachelor's Degree. They allow individuals to explore graduate education without committing to the full master's degree program. Moreover, the courses completed in the certificate program can also be applied towards the Master's Degree in Health Informatics and Management, if the certificate candidate decides to continue on with his/her studies. Students who complete one of the certificate programs with a GPA of 3.5 or better are not required to complete the GRE for admission into the master's degree program.

Courses in these blended programs feature a combination of face-to-face and online classes, maximizing the students' convenience, while still allowing them the opportunity to interact with their faculty and fellow students in person.

While these courses are made available each semester through UMass Lowell's Continuing Studies Division, all of these blended Health Informatics and Management programs are housed within the University's Department of Community Health and Sustainability which is part of the University's School of Health and Environment. The Department of Community Health & Sustainability offers a variety of science-based programs designed to prepare individuals to become public health professionals, health care managers, and researchers working to create a sustainable future. Approximately 2 months prior to the start of each semester, Online and Continuing Education posts the new course schedule to the website. Once you've decided which course(s) you would like to take, returning students can register using ISIS self-service, while new students must use the New Student Registration Form.
